One of the key struggles facing poor families in the Philippines is inconsistent and insufficient income, leading to a vicious poverty cycle. Through the Excess Food for Cash program, Prosperas International is tackling this critical issue by providing families, primarily mothers, with the opportunity to have a consistent income. Participating families can grow and sell excess food from each community garden site. This food must meet the same quality standards as food grown for sale on Prosperas Farms©, and will add to the produce supply provided to our partnering businesses. The income generated will be a cushion for families in times of unemployment, and will help alleviate the harshest implications of severe poverty.
